How the click speed test works
Pick a length, then click the box with your main mouse button as fast as you can. The timer starts on your first click. When it runs out, your clicks per second (CPS) is the number of clicks divided by the length of the test. Your best score for each length is saved in this browser.
Short tests reward a quick burst, while the 30 and 60-second tests show how long you can keep the pace up. Scores from different lengths aren't directly comparable.
Clicking techniques
Regular clicking is one finger at a normal pace. Jitter clicking tenses the arm so the finger vibrates on the button. Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on the same button. Jitter and butterfly clicking are much faster, but they're hard on the hand and the mouse, so take breaks.
The double-click check
Every press is timed. If two arrive less than 30 milliseconds apart, faster than a finger can move, the test reports a double registration. One or two in a fast run may be your own technique, but repeated ones on slow, single-finger clicks point to a worn switch.
Common questions
Can I use a trackpad or touchscreen?
Yes. Taps count the same as clicks. The double-click check only applies to mice, because several fingers can touch a screen at almost the same moment.
Does a higher polling rate improve my CPS?
Not noticeably. Even a basic mouse reports 125 times a second, far more often than anyone can click. Switch feel and button weight matter more.
Is my score stored online?
No. Your best scores are kept in your browser's local storage on this device only, and clearing your browser data removes them.
